Why they are a saint

Saint Crescentia suffered for Christ during the reign of Emperor Diocletian (284-305) with the holy martyrs Vitus and Modestus. The Orthodox Church commemorates Modestus on June 15.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Modestus as a patron when they bear the name Modestus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 15. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
