Why they are a saint

Nahum is kept on the calendar as an Old Testament prophet. Nahum was a minor prophet whose prophecy is recorded in the Tanakh, also called the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament. The Book of Nahum is kept among the twelve minor prophets, an oracle concerning Nineveh. Orthodox Christians honor the prophets as those who spoke the word of God and pointed toward Christ.

Orthodox Christians usually take Nahum as a patron when they bear the name Nahum at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 1. As a prophet, he is also honored by those who seek to hear and keep God's word.
