The holy martyrs Nazarius, Gervase, Protase, and Celsius suffered during the reign of the Emperor Nero in the city of Milan. The Orthodox Church commemorates Nazarius on October 14.

Orthodox Christians usually take Nazarius as a patron when they bear the name Nazarius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 14. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
