The Holy Martyr Neophytus, a native of the city of Nicæa, was raised by his parents in strict Christian piety. The Orthodox Church commemorates Neophytus of Nicea on January 21.

Orthodox Christians usually take Neophytus of Nicea as a patron when they bear the name Neophytus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 21. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
