Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Nestor, Tribimius, Marcellus, and Anthony of Perge (Pérgē) in Pamphylia (Pamphylίa)1 lived during the reign of the impious Emperor Decius.2 As Christians, they fearlessly preached Christ, therefore the pagans denounced them to the governor of the region. The Orthodox Church commemorates Nestor on March 1.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Nestor as a patron when they bear the name Nestor at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on March 1. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
