Why they are a saint
Saint Nicetas, Bishop of Novgorod, in his youth entered the Kievo-Kiev Caves monastery and soon wished to become an hermit. The Orthodox Church commemorates Nicetas on January 31.

Orthodox Christians usually take Nicetas as a patron when they bear the name Nicetas at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 31. As a bishop, he is also remembered by clergy and those who serve the Church.
