Why they are a saint

The Martyr Orestes the Physician lived in the city of Tyana in Cappadocia during the reign of Emperor Diocletian (284-311). The Orthodox Church commemorates Orestes on November 10.

Orthodox Christians usually take Orestes as a patron when they bear the name Orestes at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on November 10. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
