Why they are a saint

Born in a village of Little Russia (now Belarus), he was kidnapped as a boy and sold to a Turkish tanner as a slave. The Orthodox Church commemorates Pachomius on June 3.

Orthodox Christians usually take Pachomius as a patron when they bear the name Pachomius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 3. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
