Why they are a saint
The Monk Paphnutius of Borovsk was born in 1394 in the village of Kudinovo, not far from Borovsk, and at Baptism he was named Parphenii. The Orthodox Church commemorates Paphnutius on May 1.

Orthodox Christians usually take Paphnutius as a patron when they bear the name Paphnutius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on May 1. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
