Saint Paul the Physician, from the city of Corinth, in his youth took monastic tonsure at one of the monasteries. The Orthodox Church commemorates Paul on June 28.

Orthodox Christians usually take Paul as a patron when they bear the name Paul at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 28. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
