Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Peregrinus, Lucian, Pompeius, Hesychius, Papius, Saturninus and Germanus were natives of Italy. The Orthodox Church commemorates Peregrinus on July 7.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Peregrinus as a patron when they bear the name Peregrinus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 7. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
