Why they are a saint

Perpetua, Felicity, Saturus, Saturninus, Secundus and Revocatus were all young catechumens living near Carthage. The Orthodox Church commemorates Perpetua on February 1.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Perpetua as a patron when they bear the name Perpetua at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 1. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
