Why they are a saint

Saint Peter was born and raised in the city of Capitolias (an ancient city in eastern Jordan, on the way to Damascus), and he was both wise and very prudent. The Orthodox Church commemorates Peter of Capitolias on October 4.

Orthodox Christians usually take Peter of Capitolias as a patron when they bear the name Peter at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 4. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
