Why they are a saint
Phanourios was a newly revealed great martyr of Rhodes; in Greek popular devotion the first saint asked to find lost things (phanerono, 'I reveal'). This memory is kept in the Greek Church. The Church ranks him among the great martyrs, whose public witness was especially costly.
Patronage / why chosen as patron
Traditionally asked to pray for finding lost things. The reason for this custom is not recorded here.
Prayer
O holy Phanourios, pray to God for us.
A short general prayer to a saint, not a liturgical text. No public-domain troparion for this saint is included.
Do not confuse with Menas of Egypt (also asked for lost things).
