Why they are a saint

Saint Procopius was born in Bohemia, in the village of Hotun. In his dignity of priest he toiled much to spread the Christian Faith in Czechia. By the River Zasava he founded a monastery in the name of Saint John the Forerunner, where he died in the year 1053. Venerated as a monastic saint, honored for a life of prayer and asceticism.

Orthodox Christians usually take Procopius as a patron when they bear the name Procopius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on September 16. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
