Why they are a saint

During a persecution against Christians (in the third century) a certain pious woman named Rufina fled from Corinth to a mountain, to escape from her pursuers. The Orthodox Church commemorates Quadratus and those with him at Corinth on March 10.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Quadratus and those as a patron when they bear the name Quadratus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on March 10. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
