Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Quriaqos and Julitta lived in Asia Minor in the city of Iconium in the Licaoneia region. Saint Julitta was descended from an illustrious family and was a Christian. Widowed early on, she raised her three year old son Quriaqos. Venerated as a martyr who died for the faith in Christ.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Quriaqos as a patron when they bear the name Quriaqos at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 15. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
