Why they are a saint

Romylos of Vidin, also known as Romylos of Ravanica or Romylus the Athonite (Romil Svetogorac, Romil Svetogorski; Bulgarian: Ромил Бдински; Serbian: Ромил Раванички), was a 14th-century Bulgarian monk, a disciple of Gregory of Sinai. The Orthodox Church commemorates Romylos of Vidin on January 16.

Orthodox Christians usually take Romylos of Vidin as a patron when they bear the name Romylos at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 16. Serbian, Bulgarian, Greek, pan-Orthodox Orthodox faithful also honor his as one of their own.
