He lived for many years as a monk at the Monastery of St Cyril of White Lake, where his ascetic struggles won him the respect of his brethren. The Orthodox Church commemorates Sabbatius on September 27.

Orthodox Christians usually take Sabbatius as a patron when they bear the name Sabbatius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on September 27. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
