Why they are a saint

Very little information has come down to us about the holy martyr Salome of Jerusalem and Kartli, who lived in the XIII century at a women’s monastery in Jerusalem. The Orthodox Church commemorates Salome the Georgian on July 20.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Salome the Georgian as a patron when they bear the name Salome at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on July 20. As a martyr, she is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
