Why they are a saint
Saint Sava, first Archbishop of Serbia,—in the world Rostislav (Rastko), was a son of the Serbian autocrat Stefan Nemani and Anna, daughter of the Greek emperor Romanos. The Orthodox Church commemorates Sava on January 12.

Orthodox Christians usually take Sava as a patron when they bear the name Sava at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 12. As a bishop, he is also remembered by clergy and those who serve the Church.
