Why they are a saint
It is not known where Saint Savva was born. He lived a life of asceticism in the Holy Monastery of the Honorable Forerunner on an island in the lake of Ioannina around the middle of the XV century.

Orthodox Christians usually take Savva of Ioannina as a patron when they bear the name Savva at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 3.
