Why they are a saint

Sergius of Radonezh was founder of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra; spiritual father of Muscovite monasticism and of the generation of St. Andrei Rublev. The most beloved Russian monastic saint. The years given for this life are c. 1314–1392. His feast keeps the memory of that ascetic path.

Patron of Russia, students, bakers, monastic life, because he lived the monastic life of prayer and asceticism and he taught and wrote in defence of the faith.
