Why they are a saint
Divorced from her spouse for barrenness, she against her will was tonsured in the Nativity of Christ Women’s Monastery and was then sent to the Suzdal Protection Monastery. The Orthodox Church commemorates Sophia of Suzdal on December 16.

Orthodox Christians usually take Sophia of Suzdal as a patron when they bear the name Sophia at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on December 16. As a monastic, she is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
