Saint Tabitha, the widow raised from the dead by the Apostle Peter, was a virtuous and kindly woman who belonged to the Christian community in Joppa. The Orthodox Church commemorates Tabitha the Widow on October 25.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Tabitha the Widow as a patron when they bear the name Tabitha at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on October 25. As an apostle, she is also asked to pray for missionaries and those who spread the Gospel.
