Why they are a saint

The Martyrs Tathuil (Thiphael) and his sister Bebaia (or Thivea) suffered for their bold and effective preaching of Christianity among the pagans. The Orthodox Church commemorates Tathuil on September 5.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Tathuil as a patron when they bear the name Tathuil at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on September 5. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
