Why they are a saint

The Martyr Tation lived in Bythnia and suffered under the emperor Diocletian (284-305). When the persecutors of Christians learned that he believed in Christ, they arrested him and took him to the city of Claudiopolis to the governor, Urban. Venerated as a martyr who died for the faith in Christ.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Tation as a patron when they bear the name Tation at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 24. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
