Why they are a saint

Theodora was the wife of Emperor Theophilus the Iconoclast, but secretly revered the icons, and protected others who did, until the emperor’s death. The Orthodox Church commemorates Theodora on February 11.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Theodora as a patron when they bear the name Theodora at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 11. As a ruler, she is also remembered by those who bear responsibility for others.
