Why they are a saint

He lived for many years as a hermit in the wilderness of the Jordan, and after long and hard ascetic struggle was granted the gift of wonderworking. The Orthodox Church commemorates Theodore on June 5.

Orthodox Christians usually take Theodore as a patron when they bear the name Theodore at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on June 5. As a ruler, he is also remembered by those who bear responsibility for others.
