Why they are a saint
The Monk Theodosii (Feodosii) Sumorin of Totemsk was born at Vologda in about the year 1530. In his youth he was raised in a spirit of Christian piety and the fear of God. At the insistence of his parents he married, but family life did not sway him away from God. Venerated as a monastic saint, honored for a life of prayer and asceticism.

Orthodox Christians usually take Theodosius as a patron when they bear the name Theodosius at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 28. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
