Why they are a saint

The Martyrs Timothy, Agapius and Thekla suffered martyrdom in the year 304. The Martyr Timothy was a native of the city of Caesarea in Palestine. He studied the Holy Scripture, and having received a special gift of eloquence, he became a teacher of the Christian Faith. Venerated as a martyr who died for the faith in Christ.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Timothy as a patron when they bear the name Timothy at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on August 19. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
