Why they are a saint

Saint Timothy was a bishop who was imprisoned by Julian the Apostate (331-363) together with his fellow bishop Theodore; the priests Timothy, Peter, John, Sergius, Theodore, Nikēphóros; the deacons Basil and Thomas; the monks Hierotheus, Daniel, Chariton, Socrates, Comasius; and Etymasius. The Orthodox Church commemorates Timothy and his companions on November 28.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Timothy as a patron when they bear the name Timothy at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on November 28. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
