Why they are a saint
Saint Timothy of Symbola was of Italian descent. He became a monk at a young age and pursued asceticism at a monastery called “Symbola”, in Asia Minor near Mount Olympus. At that time Theoctistus was the archimandrite of the monastery. Venerated as righteous, one who pleased God by a holy life in the world.

Orthodox Christians usually take Timothy the Righteous as a patron when they bear the name Timothy at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on February 21.
