Why they are a saint

The Holy Martyrs Victorinus, Victor, Nikēphóros, Claudius, Diodorus, Serapion, and Papias suffered at Corinth in 251, during a persecution under the emperor Decius (249-251). The Orthodox Church commemorates Victorinus on January 31.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Victorinus as a patron when they bear the name Victorinus at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 31. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
