Why they are a saint

Vincent of Lérins (Latin: Vincentius Lerinensis; died c. 445) was a Gallic monk and author of early Christian writings. One example was the Commonitorium, c. 434, which offers guidance in the orthodox teaching of Christianity. Suspected of semi-Pelagianism, he opposed the Augustinian model of grace and was probably the recipient of Prosper of Aquitaine's Responsiones ad Capitula Objectionum Vincentianarum.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Vincent of Lerins as a patron when they bear the name Vincent at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on May 24. As a monastic, he is also asked for help in prayer, fasting, and repentance.
