Why they are a saint

On the first Sunday after Theophany (January 7-13), we celebrate the memory of the Virgin Martyrs Neollina, Domnina and Parthena (Νεολλίνα, Δομνίνα, Παρθένα) of Edessa in the Holy Metropolis of Edessa and Pella. The Orthodox Church commemorates Virgin Martyrs Neollina on January 12.

Patronage / why chosen as patron

Orthodox Christians usually take Virgin Martyrs Neollina as a patron when they bear the name Virgin at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on January 12. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
