Why they are a saint

Zeno of Verona served as Bishop of Verona. Zeno of Verona was a Mauri Berber Christian figure believed to have either served as Bishop of Verona or died as a martyr. A hieromartyr is honored for dying for Christ while serving as a pastor or, in some commemorations, as a named witness of that rank. The Church honors him as a hieromartyr, one who died for Christ.

Orthodox Christians usually take Zeno of Verona as a patron when they bear the name Zeno at baptism, or were born or baptized near the feast on April 12. As a martyr, he is also asked for courage and faithfulness under trial.
